Product information
Do you want a lightweight, but above all comfortable, spacious and ecological two person tent?
Tents that are too cramped and/or heavy are terrible to use.
Almost all the two-person hiking tents on the market are practically only comfortable for one person to use. It is an old hiking fact that if you want a two-person tent, you should buy a three-person tent.
This is completely pointless, because if you want to camp with two people, it is not nice to carry a tent for three people and the fabrics and other materials for the one “extra” person – unnecessary weight.
After all, no one goes to the forests or the fells to suffer.
At Northern Lite, we understand the importance of comfort. In practice this means lightness, ease of use and volume.
Before starting to work on Saana tent, our founder Juuso searched the market for a tent with enough space for two extra-wide sleeping pads (Juuso is nowadays partial to creature comforts in life as in hiking) and with enough internal height to make operating in the tent comfortable.
As a former hardcore lightweight hiker, the tent’s light weight was also an important criterion.
Since he couldn’t find what he was looking for, he had to make it himself.
The Saana tent has been built meticulously since 2020, and as a result of the design work, a tent has been created that domestic hiking media has already praised “as an interesting combination of modern light hiking and traditional trekking”..
In terms of tent design, we listened to our ancestors. The model is based on a thousands of years old tradition. Teepee-shaped, multi-sided tents have been around almost as long as people have camped in tents. Inspiration has therefore been sought from a time when people spent long periods of time in tents.
The Saana tent is a comfortable tent for Nordic conditions that is durable, light to carry and easy to pitch.
- The Saana tent withstands wind and rain with storm ropes. The tent can also be set up higher or lower depending on the weather.
- The tent is spacious and can accommodate two of the widest and thickest sleeping pads on the market
- Standing room for a person under 180 cm tall
- Due to excellent ventilation and a high profile, there is minimal condensation inside the tent
- The tent has also been granted design protection in the EU due to its exceptional hexagonal design.
- Excellent news is that you don’t have to apply silicone to the seams to make them waterproof as opposed to many ultralight tents on the market today. Rather Saana tent’s seams are sewn with a special seam that makes them waterproof.
- Slightly heavier than the Saana Ecolite, the Saana Basic is sustainably handcrafted in Forssa, Finland, so each tent is unique.
User experiences:
Using the Saana tent is easy:
- Unpack your tent
- Place the tent on the ground and loosen all corner and storm ropes (the storm ropes have easy-to-use sliding knots)
- Secure all six corners symmetrically to the ground with pegs and tighten them appropriately
- Slide the center pole (a center pole made of two hiking poles with straps –available as an accessory) into the tent and lift the tent upright.
- After this, the tent is practically ready to use thanks to the fixed inner tent – no need to adjust the inner tent separately
- Tighten the corners
We have been supplying Saana tents to customers since summer 2022. No Saana tent user has ever wanted to give up theirs, but if you don’t like your Saana tent, you have a 14-day return policy on your purchase.
