We process orders mainly twice a week at our factory in Forssa, usually on Mondays and Wednesdays in the evening.
Not yet. Although we are already pioneers of environmental responsibility in outdoor gear, we are still far from being able to make our products from bio-based plastic-replacement fabrics. Instead, we have aimed to minimize the use of virgin plastic in the tent wherever possible. Much of the tent’s fabric is made from recycled polyester, and we have sought out recycled plastic or entirely plastic-free alternatives for other parts of the tent.
Northern Lite Rain Skirt’s recycled polyester fabric is silicone coated on both sides and as such has a better than average water repellency than many similar fabrics.
These fabrics have very different properties from the non-coated, DWR-treated fabrics used for shell garments, which often have water column ratings of 10,000 mm or even 20,000 mm.
In short, silicone-coated fabric does not need a 10,000 mm water column rating to be waterproof.
However, if you sit in a puddle for a very long time, water will eventually seep through even this fabric. In fact, only old-school rubber-coated rainwear would not let water through in such use.
In normal use, the rain skirt keeps water out excellently.
